Stray Cat Info: Stray cats are a common problem in Seattle, and all over the country. We like cats as pets, and they are good animals. But stray cats are a real problem. They fight and spray during
mating season, produce litters of young that people often feel responsible for, and can damage native bird populations. Stray cats can spread diseases and parasites to other animals, and even your own domestic
pets. Strays, or feral cats, have to survive, and will often take up residence in unwanted areas, such as under dumpsters or in public places. Female cats will often break into the attic of a house in order to have a safe
place to raise a litter of kittens. We don't want to have to deal with stray cats. Call the county if you have a cat problem. However, if they are unable to meet your needs, we can assist with cat trapping.
Examples of the specialized work that we do that the county won't handle include the removal of stray cats from attics and under homes, and large scale trapping at commercial properties such as stores and hotels.
We treat cats very humanely, and bring all trapped cats to the SPCA. If you want to help with the stray cat problem, have your pet spayed or neutered, and don't leave out food for stray cats, please. |
